What do you get if you combine more than 25 of Treasure Valley’s top musicians such as Ned Evett, Low-Fi, and Kris Doty; add performances by the Oinkari Dancers and the Moody Jews; sprinkle in an appearance by Mayor Dave Bieter; and wrap it all up with an internationally known pop and jazz musician together with Boise’s favorite comedy team as the co-hosts?
The answer is a rollicking holiday variety show that is an extraordinary gift to the Boise community: the 3rd Annual X-Treme Holiday X-Travaganza.
With musician Curtis Stigers at its helm and The Fool Squad by his side, an all-star cast of musicians, comedians and dancers climb aboard this caravan of local talent and good cheer each year, all to benefit a local nonprofit.
On Sunday, December 21st at 7:30pm this festive package of artistic collaboration and energy will land at the Egyptian Theatre for a most memorable night. With a silent auction to add to the fun and to the funds raised, it is a no-holds barred, anything-goes variety show aimed to give the holiday season and the community a boost.
This year, all proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will go to Interfaith Sanctuary, a Boise shelter for the homeless.
Interfaith Sanctuary Housing Services is a collaboration of people of faith and people of conscience who have joined together to shelter and serve individuals and families with children who are experiencing homelessness in Boise. In existence since 2005, they served over 1,000 individuals last year.
According to Curtis Stigers, who is producing the event along with Jodi Peterson, "Interfaith Sanctuary struggles to survive in normal times. This year, donations are way down and more people are homeless thanks to the mortgage and financial crises. They need help. My way of helping just happens to be throwing a fabulous party and inviting dozens of Idaho's finest performers to put on a show with me. I love my job!"
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at curtisstigers.com and at the Boise Co-op and The Record Exchange. The event is sponsored by the Boise Co-op and Boise State Radio.
