In a time when many parents are overextended and often just getting by, providing a positive environment in which a child is encouraged to reach his or her fullest potential can be a challenge.
The Boys & Girls Club of Nampa helps to fulfill that need in Canyon County by providing young people with a fun, safe and constructive environment when they are not at home or school.
Boys & Girls Clubs offer programs and services designed to build character and strengthen life skills and are staffed by trained youth development professionals.
The Nampa Club has been expanded to 23,000 square feet and now boasts a full gym, teen center and media center. The club is open to all youth ages 6 to 18 with a special focus on children and teens with the greatest needs. Dues are kept low, and kids are not turned away because of an inability to pay.
On Friday, April 24, the club will host its fourth annual Denim & Diamonds Gala at the Idaho Center. All proceeds will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Nampa and Healthy Nampa Healthy Youth.
Tickets are $100 and may be purchased through www.bgclubnampa.org or 461-7203.
The following day the club will host a free community sale and family day at the Idaho Center. Activities will include a health fair, free dental screenings, a classic car show, pony rides, magic shows, laser tag, and other games, all providing great fun for the whole family. There is no entry fee, and all activities are free.
You can support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County by attending a Wild West Auction for Kids on Saturday (www.bgclubidaho.org or 376-4960). There are some seats left for that event, or you can also help out the Ada clubs by joining in an online auction, which ends April 22. http://boysandgirlsclub.auctionfrogs.org/auction/
